It was an old scenario in the office wherein the employees turn in their time sheets or times cards, an employee in the accounting department will now key in the number of hours work of each employee in their payroll system. Nowadays offices uses an automated system, the employees will punch in their cards in the electronic relógio de ponto or time clock wherein the data in transferred electronically into a payroll system that will do the calculations of the payroll hours which will be transferred to the payroll software who will do all the computations of the employees’ salaries. This payroll system gives accurate solution in a faster and more efficient way.
 
Most people have a notion that when a company uses electronic bundy clock it will perform all the complex task of the payroll system is definitely wrong. They have their own limitations, they may perform some rounding and overtime calculations but when it gets a little bit complex it might need manual intervention. For example, on the electronic clock you timed in 8:15 in the morning and clocks out at 8:07 in the evening. The electronic clock will calculate it as 11 hours and 52 minutes of work which is wrong because you have to consider the lunch break and the overtime hours must be taken in consideration as well. When calculating payroll, there are various things to be considered that may not be under the capability of the bundy clocks. Some of the requirements that needs special attention when calculating the payroll are automatic deduct of lunch breaks or not deduct taken breaks, payroll balancing and the flextime accrual such as bank time, fostered days off or flextime need to be taken into consideration which are not within the areas of responsibility of an electronic watch point or a time clock.
 
The problems encountered mostly when using the electronic clocks is they cannot make an accurate interface with most payroll system. Some may be able to do it, but you have to check it thoroughly because most often, it will send wrong calculations especially if your pay rules and awards need to consider various things.
 
Naturally, we want to have accurate information to come up with the right pay for the labor force, software that can make accurate calculations of payroll hours and capable of importing into the payroll system is what a company need. This is of course if you are employing more than 30 employees so that your investment is worth it.
